Laying of foundation stones for the construction of new buildings for Walallawitaand Madurawala divisional secretariats in the administrative district of Kalutara with the financial provisions from the Ministry of Home Affairs was carried out recently under the patronage of the Hon. WajiraAbeywardana, Minister of Home Affairs. These development projects are implemented under the instructions of His Excellency the President MaithripalaSirisenaand under the guidance of Hon. Prime Minister, RanilWickremesinghe.

Many steps have been taken by the government to strengthen the divisional administration and accordingly the amount of money spent for the construction of new buildings inWalallawitaand Madurawala divisional secretariats has amounted to Rs. 2,000 lakhs.

The special feature of these buildings is that they consist of vehicle parking facilities as well. Similarly, it is also expected to include a complete auditorium within each of these new buildings and all the necessary equipment for the building and as well as the staff will be provided by the Ministry of Home Affairs.

Concurrently with this event, Madurawala“NilaSewana” office was also declared open byHon. WajiraAbeywardana, Minister of Home Affairs on the same day.

The government has allocated Rs. 20 lakhs for each of these “NilaSewana” offices. It is expected to build 14,000 NilaSewana offices under the financial provisions of the Ministry of Home Affairs by the end of 2020.

The purpose of building these “NilaSewana” offices is to provide office facilities for four field officers namely, GramaNiladhari, Samurdhi Development Officer, Economic Development Officer and Agriculture Research and Production Assistant to carry out their duties from one place.
