Seven (07) ‘NlaSewana’ offices in Medirigiriya and Lankapura divisional secretariats in Polonnaruwa district, constructed under the financial provisions of the Ministry of Home Affairs, were declared open by Hon. WajiraAeywardana, Minister of Home Affairs recently. Under this initiative of constricting ‘NilaSewala’ offices which is implemented in accordance with the concept of Hon.WajiraAeywardana, Minister of Home Affairs and under the instructions of His Excellency the President, MaithripalaSirisena and under the guidance of Hon. Prime Minister, RanilWickremesinghe,one such office is constructed at cost of Rs. 20 lakhs. Hingurakdamana, Veliela, Diyasenpura, Ekamuthugama, NelumPokuna, Viharagama, and Viharagama were the new ‘NlaSewana’ offices which were declared open recently.

These ‘NlaSewana’ offices are constructed with a view to facilitating the four field officers namely GramaNiladhari, Samurdhi Development Officer, Economic Development Officer and Agriculture Research and Production Assistant to carry out their duties from one place. Hon. WajiraAbeywardanaalso participated in an inspection visit at the construction site of Polonnaruwa new administrative complex which is constructed at a cost of Rs. 14,670. This project is implementedunder the instructions of His Excellency the President, MaithripalaSirisena and under the guidance of Hon. Prime Minister, RanilWickremesinghe. Hon. Minister instructed the officers to expedite the construction activities at this visit and the construction activities are expected to be completed by the next year. This building is constructed with the intention of relocating 22 administrative institutions currently situated in Polonnaruwa town, to one place. Polonnaruwa district Parliamentarians, Mr. Sidney Jayarathne and Mr. NalakaColonne, and Mr. S.T. Kodikara, Secretary to the Ministry of Home Affairs and a number of public officials were also amongst the participants.

The new three-storey building for Welivitiya-Divithura Divisional Secretariat, constructed under the patronage of Hon. Minister of Home Affairs, WajiraAbeywardana with the financial provisions of the Ministry of Home Affairs was declared open by the Hon. Prime Minister, RanilWickremesinghe on 24th June, 2018. The amount allocated for the project is Rs. 400 lakhs and the laying of foundation stone for this building has only been carried out on 08th October, 2016.

Hon. Minister, WajiraAbeywardana states that it has been able to complete the constructions activities within a short period of time since the initiation of work following the laying of foundation stone. All the required physical resources for the building and well as for the staff have been provided by the Ministry.

Concurrently with this event, the distribution of cheques for those who have affected by the floods in May 2017 in the areas of Welivitiya-Divithura, Niyagama, Karandeniya, and Elpitiya divisional secretariat divisions was also done on the same day.

The new three-storey building which was newly constructed for Galewela Divisional Secretariat was declared open by Hon. Prime Minister, Ranil Wickremesinhe, on 09.06.2018.

Ministry of Home Affairs has spent Rs. 940 lakhs for the construction of this building. Hon. Wajira Abeywardane, Minister of Home Affairs, Hon. J.C. Alawathuwala, Deputy Minister of Home Affairs Hon. Wasantha Aluwihare, State Minister of Agriculture and other Hon. Ministers and Members were also amongst the gathering.

Distribution of office bags amongst field officers, awarding of title deeds, provision of self-employment aids, distribution of laptops amongst Registrars, awarding of scholarships for the children of low income earning families and granting of excellence awards for Grama Niladharies were also done by the Hon. Prime Minister.

The new three-storey building constructed at Ibbagamuwa Divisional Secretariat in Kurunegala district was declared open by Hon. WajiraAbeywardana, Minister of Home Affairs. 

Under the guidance and instructions of His Excellency the President, MaithripalaSirisena and Hon. Prime Minister, RanilWickremesinhe, this building was constructed by the Ministry of Home Affairs at a cost of Rs. 465 lakhs. Hon. S.B. Navinna, Minster of Wayamba Development and Cultural Affairs and Hon. J.C. Alawathuwala, Deputy Minister of Home Affairs and other Hon. Ministers and Members were also present on this occasion.

Awarding of appointment letters for 1650 Grama Niladharies was held on June 01, 2018 at Temple Trees. This appointment letter awarding ceremony which was held under the chairmanship of the Hon. Prime Minister, Ranil Wickremesinhe was also attended by Hon. Wajira Abeywardane, Minister of Home Affairs, and Hon.  J.C. Alawathuwala, Deputy Minister of Home Affairs, Mr. S.T.
