Take legal action if there are errors in birth, marriage and death certificates due to the negligence of officials - advice from State Minister Ashoka Priyantha
Mr. Ashoka Priyantha, Minister of State for Home Affairs, said that a special program should be prepared to prevent errors in the original copies of birth, marriage and death certificates.
The Minister of State mentioned this while attending the progress review meeting held at the Ministry of Home Affairs on 06.10.2023 with senior officials of the Registrar General's Department.
State Minister Mr. Ashoka Priyantha instructed the senior officers of the Registrar General's Department that they should be very careful while writing birth, marriage and death certificates and if errors occur in those certificates due to the negligence of the officials, legal action should be taken against them.
The State Minister further stated that this department should change the old regulations and create efficient public service with new technology.
For this progress review meeting, Additional Secretary of the State Ministry of Home Affairs Ananda Vanninayake, Registrar General Samantha Wijesinghe, Senior Assistant Secretary A. D. Mr. W. Kumarasinghe as well as many senior officials of the Registrar General's Department were present.
