The government has decided to proudly hold the 75th National Independence Day under the theme "Namo Namo Mata A Step to a Century".

A progress review meeting held on 03.01.2023 regarding the National Independence Day was held in the auditorium of the Ministry of Home Affairs under the chairmanship of Hon. Ashoka Priyantha, State Minister of Home Affairs.

In view of His Holiness Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI’s ascension to heaven,  it has been declared by Hon. Ranil Wickremesinghe, President of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka, to place the national flag at half-mast in all government institutions on 05.01.2023, as a mark of respect to the great service rendered by His Holiness to the Christian devotees and the people of the whole world

National Food Security Program - Galle District Progress Review Meeting - 2022.12.16

* The government's goal is to be self-sufficient in food production in the year 2023.
* It is everyone's responsibility to save the child as well as the adult from the danger of alcohol.
Prime Minister Dinesh Gunawardena said at the conference of district secretaries.

The Prime Minister, Minister of Public Administration, Home Affairs, Provincial Councils and Local Government Mr. Dinesh Gunawardena said that everyone should support to achieve the government's goal of self-sufficiency in food production by the year 2023.
The Prime Minister mentioned this while addressing the conference of district secretaries held on 22.12.2022 (today) at the auditorium of the State Ministry of Home Affairs.

The Prime Minister instructed the district secretaries to take immediate steps to make the food production works that have been started in the districts successful in conjunction with the National Food Security Program.

Contribute to national food security by protecting fisheries.

The Prime Minister instructed the officers to take necessary measures to improve the saltwater and freshwater fisheries in the districts.

Everyone should dedicate themselves to save children as well as adults from the menace of drugs. Prime Minister Dinesh Gunawardena further said that everyone should support the security forces.

In this meeting, the Minister of State for Home Affairs Mr. Ashoka Priyantha mentioned that a special program should be implemented to protect the businessmen involved in the egg industry as well as the consumer. The Minister of State further mentioned that increasing the production of fresh water fish will help to control the price of fish.
